FAQ
Common questions
Do I legally need a gas Certificate of Conformity?+
Yes. Any fixed gas installation in South Africa must be signed off by a registered gas practitioner, and your insurer or the conveyancer on a property sale will ask for the CoC. We issue one on every installation we complete.
How much does gas installation cost?+
A standard gas appliance installation starts at R5 500 incl VAT single-storey and R8 000 incl VAT double-storey, with one core drill included. Piping runs, extra bottle points and non-standard work are quoted on site.
Where may the gas bottles be placed?+
Outside, in a ventilated position with the required clearance from doors, windows, drains and boundary walls. We confirm a compliant position during the site visit.
Can you convert my wood fireplace to gas?+
In most cases yes — the appliance is replaced with a gas unit and the flue and ventilation reworked to suit. We confirm what the opening and flue allow on site.
Do you issue a CoC for an existing installation?+
We inspect and pressure test the existing installation first. If it passes, or once we have corrected what needs correcting, we issue the CoC.
