Flue Installation in Cape Town & the Western Cape
A fireplace only draws as well as its flue. Progress Group designs and installs single and double-storey flue systems — 130 mm to 250 mm stainless and twin-wall insulated flue, core drilling, roof penetrations, flashing and rain cowls — to SANS 10400 for closed combustion, slow combustion, gas and pellet appliances.

FAQ
Common questions
What does flue installation cost?+
Standard flue installation is R5 500 incl VAT for a single-storey home and R8 000 incl VAT for a double-storey, with one core drill included in both. Extra flue lengths, additional core drills, bends, scaffolding and structural work are quoted separately after the site assessment.
What flue diameter do I need?+
Most closed combustion fireplaces use a 130 mm flue, which is our default. Larger appliances and open fireplaces step up to 150 mm, 180 mm, 200 mm or 250 mm — we confirm the diameter against the appliance's specification before ordering.
Do I need an insulated flue?+
Through roof spaces, next to combustible material and on long external runs, yes. Twin-wall insulated flue keeps flue gas temperature up, which improves draught and reduces creosote build-up.
Can you replace or re-line an existing chimney?+
Yes. We inspect the existing chimney, re-line it with a stainless liner where the masonry allows, and sweep and smoke-test it before handover.
How high must the flue terminate?+
Above the roof ridge line or far enough from it that wind pressure does not push smoke back down. We set the terminal height on site to suit the roof pitch and any nearby structures.
