Pellet Fireplaces & Stoves in Cape Town

Pellet fireplaces — automated, eco-friendly pellet fireplace units for Cape Town homes, supplied and installed by Progress Group.

How pellet fireplaces work

A pellet fireplace feeds compressed wood pellets from a hopper into a burn pot with an auger, and a fan controls the air. You set the temperature or a timer and the stove does the rest — no splitting logs, almost no smoke and very little ash.

Pellet stoves need a power point, and many have a fan that blows warm air into the room. Look at hopper size (how many hours one fill lasts), heat output in kW and whether you want Wi-Fi or a programmable timer. Allow roughly 1 kW per 10 m² of floor area.

Running costs are predictable: a stove on a medium setting uses around 1–2 kg of pellets an hour, and our 15 kg bags start at R158 incl. VAT. Keep a stock of sealed bags for winter.

Pellet fireplaces on this site start at R26,959 incl. VAT. They use a small-diameter flue and are installed to SANS 10400 Part V, with single-storey installation in Cape Town from R5,500. We install within 200 km of Cape Town — the City, Northern and Southern Suburbs, the Cape Winelands, Overberg and West Coast — and courier anywhere in South Africa.

Before ordering, check for a power point within reach and a clear route for the small flue through the wall or roof. Pellet stoves also need some space behind or beside them for servicing.

Frequently asked questions

Do pellet fireplaces need electricity?

Yes. The auger, fan and controls need a power point. During load-shedding they need a backup supply.

How much do pellets cost to run?

Around 1–2 kg an hour on medium. Our 15 kg bags start at R158 incl. VAT.

Are pellet stoves clean?

Yes. They burn very efficiently with little smoke and ash, and you only need to empty the burn pot and ash pan regularly.

Is your fireplace installation SANS 10400 compliant?

Yes. Every wood and pellet fireplace we install follows SANS 10400 Part V — correct hearth size, clearances to combustibles, flue height above the roof line and a sealed roof penetration. You receive a certificate of compliance for your insurer.
