FAQ

Fireplace questions from the West Coast customers.

Do you install fireplaces on the West Coast?+

Yes. Progress Group installs closed combustion, gas, wood and pellet fireplaces across the West Coast — from Bloubergstrand, Table View and Melkbosstrand to Langebaan, Saldanha, Yzerfontein, Paternoster, Velddrif, St Helena Bay and Darling. Free on-site quotations and full SANS-compliant installations.

Which fireplace is best for a coastal West Coast home?+

Coastal homes face salt air, strong southeasterly and southwesterly winds, and open-plan living. We usually recommend sealed closed combustion or gas fireplaces with stainless-steel flue systems — they resist corrosion, draw reliably in wind, and keep sand out of the firebox. For beach houses and holiday homes, a direct-vent gas fireplace is often the cleanest, lowest-maintenance choice.

How much does a fireplace cost on the West Coast?+

Freestanding wood fireplaces start from around R11,000 incl. VAT, closed combustion inserts from R16,500 incl. VAT with flue kit, and premium gas or pellet fireplaces range from R25,000 to R60,000+ depending on kW output, finish and coastal installation factors. Travel to Langebaan, Saldanha and beyond is included in our site quotation.

Do you install fireplaces in Langebaan and Saldanha?+

Yes. We travel the full West Coast and have installed fireplaces in estates, holiday homes and permanent residences across Langebaan, Saldanha, Yzerfontein, Myburgh Park, Club Mykonos and the surrounding coastal developments. Our Bellville showroom is roughly 90 minutes from Langebaan.

Is a CoC needed for gas fireplaces on the West Coast?+

Yes. Any fixed gas fireplace in South Africa needs a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) from a registered gas installer. Progress Group issues the CoC as part of the install, so your home is compliant for insurance and resale.
